Gibraltar’s online gaming companies have announced that they are restructuring their representative body, the GBGA, into corporate form, and have appointed Peter Howitt as its first Chief Executive.
The Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Association (GBGA), is an association composed of 23 Gibraltar based online gaming and betting operators. It aims to provide the Gibraltar e-gambling industry with a single voice on issues of importance and to enable better interaction with regulators, legislators, and key decision makers around the world. Member companies include some of the world’s leading operators such as bwin.party, Bet Victor, Gala Coral, Ladbrokes, SHFL Entertainment, and William Hill. Gibraltar is already known to be one the most effectively regulated jurisdictions within an increasingly competitive online industry.
Commenting on the GBGA’s establishment, new Chief Executive Peter Howitt said: “The formal incorporation of the GBGA and the launch of of its new website represent an exciting step forward for online gaming in Gibraltar, and we aim to help policy makers and decision makers gain a better understanding of online gaming, how the Gibraltar industry works, and why Gibraltar is one of the world leaders in the online gaming industry.”
He added that “one of the GBGA’s main objectives is to adopt a collaborative approach to industry stakeholders to further common goals and meet challenges within the industry. We are also committed to attracting the highest quality international operators to Gibraltar”.
Phill Brear, the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner stated “The GBGA represents Europe and the World’s leading, safest and most secure and reliable remote gambling operators. I am confident a stronger GBGA will assist the Gibraltar industry in developing and protecting its reputation for consumer protection and technical excellence.”
