European Safer Gambling Week

European Safer Gambling Week’ (“ESGW”) is an annual cross-industry initiative to promote safer gambling in Europe and was established by the ‘European Gaming and Betting Association’ ( “EGBA”) in 2021. It is a cross-border initiative and supported by EGBA members and a group of European online gambling associations who come together each year to encourage open and honest conversations about safer gambling in Europe.

The GBGA has very recently renewed its ties with EGBA and has joined the European online gambling associations platform run by EGBA.  The GBGA is delighted to join the group of online gambling associations encouraging open and honest conversations about safer gambling in Europe, especially during ESGW.

The GBGA are keen to support this work on a local basis as whilst gambling is a source of enjoyment for many, for some it has the potential to cause harm therefore it is important that operators provide their gambling activities safely and responsibly, and that they provide the necessary tools which will help mitigate harm to vulnerable people.

Locally, we will be supporting the Gibraltar’s ‘Centre of Excellence for Responsible Gambling’ (“CERG”) events. CERG will be hosting two events. GBGA Chief Operations Officer, Nicholas Macias will participate in the round table discussion at Thursdays in person event at the University. Both events focus on how academia and the industry can collaborate to create a safer gambling environment and protect customers from gambling harm:
