A Message from the Chairman
The GBGA has been going through a transition period this year and we would like to share the following updates
After 5 years in the post, our CEO Paul Foster has resigned to spend more time on other business ventures. We would like to say thank you to Paul for all his hard work over the past five years and the best of luck with his future endeavours.
Merel Swarts will also be leaving the GBGA as she continues to provide her support to Paul. Merel has played a pivotal role in all the operations and administration work that the GBGA has carried out over the past few years and we would like to thank Merel and wish her well.
We have decided to replace the role of CEO with a new role of ‘Secretary General’ and we are delighted that Nicholas Macias, who fulfilled the role of ‘Chief Operations Officer’ at the GBGA last year, has agreed to return to the GBGA and take up the post. Nicky is a veteran of our industry in Gibraltar and has held senior compliance positions since 2014 and is well known to all of you. We wish Nicky the very best of luck in this new position and look forward to working with him over the coming years.
Joining Nicky will be Angela Almeida and Bua Malamalatabua from ‘The Dream Team’ who have been helping the GBGA with website and social media management and engagement, as well as meeting and event set up. Angela and Bua will now carry out additional administration and operations duties at the GBGA and you will be hearing and seeing lots more from them.
We look forward to evolving our strategy over the coming months, starting with supporting you with understanding and adapting to the new Gambling Act in Gibraltar, and its resultant revised licensing regime, as well as revised and/or new codes of practice.
