European Safer Gambling Week

European Safer Gambling Week (ESGW) is an annual, cross-industry initiative aimed at promoting safer gambling practices throughout Europe. Established by the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) in 2021, ESGW serves as a significant cross-border collaboration supported by EGBA members and various European online gambling associations. These stakeholders unite each year to foster open and transparent discussions on safer gambling, with the goal of raising awareness and reinforcing responsible gambling practices across the continent.

In 2024, the initiative remains strong, with plans to further emphasize collaborative efforts in promoting safer gambling standards.

The GBGA expressed its enthusiasm about rejoining this collective initiative, highlighting its commitment to bolstering efforts to discuss and promote responsible gambling. Recognizing that while gambling can be a form of entertainment for many, it can also pose risks, the GBGA emphasizes the importance of operators conducting their activities in a safe and responsible manner. This includes providing essential tools and support systems designed to mitigate potential harm, especially to vulnerable individuals.

In 2024, EGBA continues to focus on expanding its outreach, enhancing educational resources, and encouraging greater collaboration among its members and partners during ESGW. These initiatives are expected to further strengthen cross-industry efforts to create safer gambling environments and protect consumers across Europe.
